wind-up battery charger?
I'm thinking of going camping for an extended period of time. I want to take my camera, but I will not be close an outlet for recharging AA batteries. From what I read solar powered chargers are impractical because they can take up to a week just to fully charge a pair of AA I have heard of string power radios, flashlights, and the like, so I wonder if anyone has had any experience with the wind up AA battery chargers? I've done some Google searches, but have not found impractical. There were some "run out of batteries" in which the wind is the battery for 20 minutes, but was very expensive and because my camera uses two batteries would have the wind for 40 minutes unless I found a way to wind both at the same time. if anyone has had any real experience with these batteries or chargers string tell me. I know what it's worth buying and it's only going to be unreliable junk to carry in your backpack.
Hello, I have lived "off the grid" (in the mountains without electricity) for many years. I know that the solar wind and to shippers and others who do the work, but it's a major hassle, costs money to buy it, and you have to take with you. If it goes wrong, you're out of luck. The best advice I can offer is go to "Dollar Tree" or dollar store or the equivalent in your area. Buy the 4 packages of "Sunbeam" alkaline batteries. They only cost a dollar per pack. I use a Vivitar 7340. Take two of these to operate and can take a lot of photos. I have to, I can sell things on eBay. Just to be sure that this will work for you, get a package and try it. More people are under the misconception they have to buy the expensive AA that are designed for use in cameras. I have found that ordinary alkaline batteries do just fine in the new model digital cameras. Try it before your trip safe. Then, depending on how long you are gone, maybe just buy 5 or 6, 4 packets in the dollar store. It only cost 5 or 6 dollars. They do not weigh that much, do not take up too much space and not have to sit there and settlement of liquidation and dissolution or waiting the sun rises, if you choose a solar charger. Also saves a lot of your hard earned money! Best of luck to you and Bon Voyage!
